First week

It's hard to believe I've been here a week! There's a lot to learn. It's almost like learning how to live all over again because of the newness of so many things.

Friday and today I was at the orphanage helping to finish a basketball court for the kids. We are getting closer to having all the concrete poured. Over the weekend, we had a party at church with the Grupos de Vida or Life Groups. It was really fun getting to know some of the people involved in the small groups. We celebrated a birthday and enjoyed great food and fellowship. Dulce de leche (caramel) comes in nearly every dessert! I'm excited to get involved and know these friendly people better. We also celebrated Dia de los Padres/Father's Day! Flor's parents came over for a big lunch with matahambre, a type of meat cut that literally means "hunger killer." I have yet to find food that doesn't satisfy and taste delicious. It's a very sharing culture here. When people drink mate they have one gourd that they pass around and refill with water to give to the next person.

This coming weekend, the Argentines have elections for their government representatives, so I've seen lots of posters about the campaigns.
