Compliments and confidence

Today I worked the third shift with a seasoned PA. He also seems to be pretty key in the hiring department for this ER group. He told me my suturing of a wound was "excellent." It definitely looked better afterward than when the patient came in. I think sometimes the goal of ER medicine is to avoid maiming or killing the patient.
A patient and her partner also told me, "you're too young to be a doctor." "I'm not a doctor." "you still look too young." "I am 26 years old." "You look 19." "um, thanks?" I didn't tell them that if I had gone to medical school right after college, they might be able to call me doctor.
All in all it was a good night - much better experience than my previous night shift.
