O Canada

So I'm waiting in the Toronto Pearson airport for my flight to O'hare and bus to Waukesha and car home after that. Transportation is a funny thing. To get places you are neither here nor there, but en route - a state of limbo. You can't do much but move forward - approaching the destination. Life is like that, a constant journey because you never truly arrive. It's always in flux. I'm thankful for free Wifi to keep me entertained in an otherwise stark white airport. I've done my fair share of traveling and used to enjoy it more. It was exciting - adventurous even. Now airports lack the allure of something special. I am desperate for a place to breathe fresh air and enjoy the sunshine on a comfortable chair. They really ought to work on airport designs to incorporate such things. Maybe it's available to first class folks. I wouldn't know. It makes me laugh when the border control people ask if I'm in possession of $10,000 or more. Really? As a student I don't ever see figures that high in my hand except for my tuition figures.

But I digress. This trip for the conference was really great. I learned a lot and was inspired by stories of PAs who have done incredible things. I also connected with PAs from around the country - including one who is from Rock Springs of all places. It's a tiny town near my home for those of you who's geography is lacking in rural Wisconsin knowledge. I was also part of some intense discussion regarding some controversial issues facing our profession. It is great to be informed of those issues and hear the perspective of PAs who have gone through this before me. After a few days of cramming more info into my head from learning and networking and lectures and the like, I needed a break and wanted to escape the city. So I did the touristy thing to do in the area and took a tour to Niagara Falls. I'm on vacation after all. It's not every day I get the chance to go to Canada. It was beautiful of course. The power of the water is certainly impressive. It's good to be reminded that life is short and we are but a mist, a breath, in this world for a short while to make a impact that is only large when others are involved. Otherwise we're just a droplet that does very little.
