Uruguay

So I crossed the river to visit Uruguay. It's a lot like Argentina. Yerba mate and dulce de leche are pretty important. As luck would have it, I arrived in the middle of their World Cup game against South Africa. You could tell when they scored as "gooooooooooooooooooool" could be heard from all around. They won 3-0 and went crazy celebrating--waving flags, throwing confetti, honking horns, and congregating in plazas to sing and shout. It was a pretty historic victory for them, as it was the first World Cup game they have won since 1990. That's 20 years ago!
While I was visiting some friends I got to see the sights of Montevideo, the capital. It's really a beautiful city on the coast. One of the places we went to during the brief time I was there, was the soccer stadium where the first World Cup was played in 1930. Unfortunately, my camera battery died so I only have a few pictures to share from my international adventure.
