Intro Classes

Last week I started class in the Fine Arts school of UNLP. During this month of introductory classes to the university, we are required to take 3 classes as part of the major we selected. I'm going with the straight up art route (drawing, painting, and the like). The classes I'm in right now are, Introduccion al arte plastica "Intro to Art," Prodduccion de Textos (lit. Production of Texts) essentially a reading/writing class, and Introduccion al lenguage visual "Intro to Visual Language." The intro classes aren't exactly weed-out classes, but if you don't pass you can't take the regular first year classes.
I have a lot of the same people in these classes that meet for several hours 4 days a week. Most are new students, but some are closer to my age who have switched majors. Many come from all over Argentina and even other countries. One guy in my discussion is from Colombia, for example. It's a great environment to get to know people especially because we are working in groups on different projects. The classes I'm taking now are different from what I was doing last year because I'm officially enrolled as a student, thus getting the full Argentine university experience. It was a little nerve-wrecking the first couple days because I didn't know what to expect, but then I remembered that a lot of the students are more or less in the same boat. Some of them have just moved from home and are getting used to a new city on top of new classes. It's a little strange starting school again, but I'm enjoying it so far and noticed that my language skills have improved.
